

This unit delivers and assesses participants skills and knowledge required to safely test, commission and maintain backflow prevention devices.
Participants are mostly existing plumbers seeking to gain a backflow prevention endorsement to their plumbing license. The program is suitable to newly qualified plumbers and completing apprentices however they will not meet QBCC licensing requirements.
Duration: 18.5 hours (over 2.5 days) face to face theoretical and practical training.

CPCPCM2043 – Carry out WHS requirements and CPCPWT3027 – Install backflow prevention device are prerequisites for CPCPWT4022 – Commission and maintain backflow prevention devices.
Learners who already hold the current prerequisite units must provide a verified Statement of Attainment prior to commencement.
Where a learner holds older or superseded qualifications that do not clearly meet the current prerequisite requirements, they may be required to complete a Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) assessment.
Where a learner does not hold the required prerequisite units, they may be required to complete the prerequisite units, where available, before being eligible to be awarded the post-trade unit.

This course has pre-requisite units which must be satisfied to be awarded this unit. Refer above to Pre-Requisites for further details. It is recommended that learners have acquired language, literacy and numeracy skills equivalent to Level 3 and Level 4 of the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF).
On successful completion:
CPCPWT4022 Commission and maintain backflow prevention devices is a nationally recognised unit of competence and learners who successfully complete the program are issued with a Statement of Attainment.
