Type B gas appliance servicing

Overview

This course covers the skills and knowledge to install, test, adjust, commission and service Type B gas appliances. Participants will learn to identify, diagnose and rectify system faults in Type B appliances.

Prerequisites

• It is desirable that learners hold gas registration and/or licence
• Learners with appropriate industry experience in this field are advised to seek approval from the Victorian Building Authority prior to enrolling
• Learners must hold a restricted electrical workers licence.

Course structure

Course delivery involves:

• One hundred and twelve (112) hours of trainer led learning and assessment over a sixteen (16) day duration, being two (2) days a week over an eight week period
• plus approximately twenty six (26) hours self directed learning prior to/or during course attendance.

Course duration

138 hours (two days a week over an eight week period).

Course outcomes

On successful completion of this course participants will be able to:

• follow safe work procedures relating to the installation, commissioning and servicing of Type B appliances
• Install Type B gas appliances
• Commission Type B gas appliances
• Service Type B gas appliances
• Identify and complete all relevant documentation.

Course recognition

Participants successfully completing this course will receive a Nationally Recognised Statement of Attainment.

Assessment arrangements

Assessment for this course requires participants to:

• Complete a theory assessment
• Undertake a practical assessment to install, commission and service Type B gas appliances
• Complete a written assignment; ‘Type B gas appliance submission’.

Training participant is a fully financial PPTEU member. May be registered in training course by self or employer.
Category B: $2450
Training participant is a Master Plumbers, AMCA or NFIA Association member.
Category C: $3500
Training participant is not a member of PPTEU, Master Plumbers, AMCA or NFIA.
