Install medical gas pipeline systems
Overview
The accurate and safe installation of medical gas pipelines systems is critical to patient safety and to prevent life threatening situations. This course is designed for existing registered and/or licensed plumbers. It focuses on safe and compliant installation of medical gas systems.
NOTE: The course if for medical gas installation NOT for medical gas design.
Applicants should be registered or licensed plumbers or apprentices before applying.
The unit CPCPCM2043A Carry out WHS requirements is a prerequisite to the CPCPMS3034A Install medical gas pipeline systems, students will be enrolled on both units unless the can gain Credit Transfer
The applicant should be able to demonstrate previous training and have completed the Unit “CPCCOHS1001A Work safely in the construction industry” before they can enrol for this course. (Red/White Card)
The units (from the CPC08 Construction, Plumbing and Services Training Package) are designed to provide training of individuals in: understanding the health issues; planning a safe installation; and testing and commissioning a medical pipeline systems.
To successfully install medical gas pipelines, installers must be able to fabricate non-ferrous metal pipelines (e.g. copper) and silver solder pipelines to a high standard. A practical refresher is conducted to ensure participant skills are current with industry best practice.
Students will learn the requirements to install pipelines by gaining a clear understanding of the Australian Standards 2896-2011. This learning is supported by practical fabrication activities and pipework installation exercises simulating real life examples.
Course structure
An update of the legislation and requirements for CPCPCM2043A Carry out WHS requirements will be conducted prior to an assessment in the first morning.
The subsequent time will cover fabrication and practical implementation of the Australian Standards for Medical Gas

32 Hours (four days) plus 8 hours self-directed learning prior to or during course attendance.
