This course is designed for new entrants to the plumbing industry who are preparing to seek a plumbing apprenticeship. It will provide learners with a range of introductory plumbing skills and knowledge that will make them more attractive to prospective employers. By completing this course learners will gain;
It is anticipated that learners who complete this qualification will be in a position to apply for employment as a plumbing apprentice.

An application and interview process is involved, including a language, literacy and numeracy pre-assessment.
Prerequisites
There are no prerequisites for this course.
However it is recommended that learners are able to demonstrate language, literacy and numeracy skills equivalent to Level 2 of the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF).
All new entrants to the Certificate II in Plumbing (Pre-Apprenticeship) will be required to undergo a pre assessment of their language, literacy and numeracy designed to identify their level of ability against the ACSF.
Course structure
There are 19 units of competency in this course as listed below.

Course duration
13 weeks full time (4 days per week structured RTO based learning; time allowance for 9 days work experience)
Work experience
Master Plumbers strongly encourages all learners to undertake practical work experience during the course to apply their theoretical skills in real work situations. The course delivery has been arranged to allow self directed learners to seek non assessable work experience opportunities for a minimum of 9 Wednesdays during the course.
Learners must identify their own work experience opportunities.

Recognition
On successful completion learners will receive the qualification 22304VIC Certificate II in Plumbing (Pre-apprenticeship).
As the course contains a number of units from nationally endorsed Training Packages, credit transfer is available into qualifications/courses that contain these units.
Learners may apply to have the skills and knowledge they develop by completing 22304VIC Certificate II in Plumbing (Pre-apprenticeship) recognised when enrolling in CPC32413 Certificate III in Plumbing.
Delivery arrangements
The delivery of this course is structured into ‘streams’ to replicate the different sectors of the plumbing industry.
Training delivery methods include;
Practical activities and learning tasks completed in the practical workshop (approximately 70% of the course).
Face to face teacher led theory classes (approximately 30% of the course)
Guest speakers.
The course is delivered at the purpose built facilities at the Plumbing Industry Climate Action Centre (PICAC).

Learner fees for government funded courses are calculated in accordance with the State Government of Victoria’s 2017 Skills First program. Learner fees include tuition fees and materials fees. This course also may incur an additional cost for tools.
Learners may be eligible for a government funded position in the course.
