Basic air conditioning design

Overview

To provide the best possible air conditioning to clients, the air conditioning system needs to be balanced. However, even if a system is properly and correctly balanced it will not meet the heating and cooling requirements of a building if the system is too small or the ductwork is sized incorrectly. This course has been developed for service technicians and balancing and commissioning supervisors and aims to increase their understanding of principles of heat and cooling load calculations:

• Defining human comfort conditions
• Psychrometric definitions and architecture of the psychrometric chart
• Computer based programs used to calculate heat and cooling loads
• The principles of equal friction duct sizing methods
• Conversion of duct sizes to accommodate installation into spaces that differ from the architectural design
