Overview
This unit describes a participant’s skills and knowledge required to work safely at heights in the resources and infrastructure industries.
This unit is appropriate for those working in operational roles where they are required to perform work at heights.

Course structure
Site location for work application may be either domestic or commercial and may be a new work site or an existing structure being renovated, extended, restored or maintained.
Course duration
1 Day – 8 hours. All courses are delivered face to face in a classroom and in a practical area. The location is either at a PICAC campus or at a specified work location which will be confirmed in the acceptance letter.
Required Skills
Evidence is required to be collected that demonstrates a candidate’s competency in this unit. Evidence must be relevant to the roles within this sector’s work operations and satisfy all the requirements of the performance criteria of this unit and include evidence that the candidate:
locates and applies relevant documentation, policies and procedures
demonstrates completion of working safely at heights that safely, effectively and efficiently meets all the required outcomes on more than one (1) occasion including:
accessing, interpreting and applying technical and safety information for working at heights
assessing hazards and risk associated with working at heights and implement control methods
selecting wearing and caring for personal protective equipment
identifying required safety systems including fall protection and associated equipment
checking that fitting, adjusting and anchoring of fall protection and associated equipment is correct
performing work safely at heights
Course recognition
A Nationally Recognised Statement of Attainment
Participants requirements
• Participants to wear Safety Footwear – Hard Hat – Hi-Viz Clothing
Assessment arrangements
A person who demonstrates competency in this unit must be able to provide evidence of:
• locating, interpreting and applying relevant information, standards and specifications for working at heights
• applying safety requirements throughout the work sequence, including the use of personal protective clothing and equipment
• correct identification of risks and safety requirements
• correct selection and use of appropriate processes, tools and equipment
• completing all work to specification
• compliance with regulations, standards and organisational quality procedures and processes
• communicating and working effectively and safely with others.

Training participant is a fully financial PPTEU member. May be registered in training course by self or employer.
Category B: $285
Training participant is a Master Plumbers, AMCA or NFIA Association member.
Category C: $380
Training participant is not a member of PPTEU, Master Plumbers, AMCA or NFIA.
