HSR Refresher OHS Training Course
Overview
Under the OHS Act (section 67) all elected HSRs and Deputy HSRs after completing an initial course of training, have an entitlement (for each year they hold office) to attend Refresher training and choose the course in consultation with their employer.
This WorkSafe approved HSR Refresher course is an opportunity to revisit aspects of the HSR Initial OHS Training Course and refresh their knowledge of the identification and assessment of common workplace hazards. The course will also provide HSRs with any important updates to the OHS Act.
Note: HSR training is not intended to train HSRs to be health and safety professionals or to fulfil an employer’s obligations in relation to OHS. HSR training is not linked to ASQA/RTO and is not nationally recognised training.
Prerequisites
To have been elected by members of their Designated Work Group (DWG) and have completed the WorkSafe approved HSR Initial OHS Training Course.
Course structure
The refresher course is structured to provide important information about changes to the OHS Act. The course will provide OHS Reps with essential tools and resources to help with the identification and assessment of common workplace hazards.
Course duration
7 hours face to face. All courses are delivered Face to Face in a classroom and in a practical area. The location is either at a PICAC campus or at a specified work location which will be confirmed in the acceptance letter.

• Consultation – Communication – Problem Solving
• Hazard Identification, Control
• Risk Management
• Manual Handling

Assessment arrangements
No formal assessment.
Category A: $0*
Training participant is a fully financial PPTEU member. May be registered in training course by self or employer.
Category B: $100
Training participant is a Master Plumbers, AMCA or NFIA Association member.
Category C: $165
Training participant is not a member of PPTEU, Master Plumbers, AMCA or NFIA.
